MyMatR installed their first automatic waste sorting unit at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The unit identifies and sorts waste into separate containers for recyclable material or trash (intended for a landfill). This process will increase the amount of waste that is recycled and reduce contamination of the recyclable material. The unit collects waste steam data at the source for analysis to help institutions understand the type of waste they generate. The unit is also equipped with a trash compactor to reduce the frequency of trash collection.

This first automatic sorting unit is a demonstration project showing the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) connected to the growing use of the Internet of Things (IoT).
